Santana is a Latin music influenced Grammy Award winning, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, rock band. Founded in San Francisco in the late 1960s, it is based around the compositions and playing of lead guitarist and founder Carlos Santana. The band first came to widespread public attention when their performance of their Latin rock song "Soul Sacrifice" at Woodstock in 1969 provided a contrast to other acts on the bill. This exposure helped propel their first album, also named Santana, into a hit, followed in the next two years by the successful Abraxas and Santana III.

"Samba Pa Ti" appears on the Abraxas album by the Latin-influenced rock band Santana. Consolidating the interest generated by their first album, Santana (released in May 1969), and their highly acclaimed live performance at the Woodstock Festival in August 1969, the band followed-up with Abraxas in September 1970. The album's mix of rock, blues, jazz, salsa and other influences was very well received, showing a musical maturation from their first album and refining the band's early sound. Also appearing on the Abraxas album "Black Magic Woman", "Oye Como Va" and "Hope You're Feeling Better"



Translated into English, the song title means, "Samba for You."



Carlos Santana told Mojo magazine November 2008 that he felt that this was his first recording when he was truly able to express himself. He explained: "I remember being alone one evening- until then when I heard my records it was like seeing myself in the mirror and there was no me there, only a lot of other guitarists' faces: B.B., George Benson, Peter Green. That evening I heard Samba Pa Ti on the radio and I looked in the mirror and it was my face, my tone, my fingerprints, my identity, my uniqueness. Because when I recorded it I was thinking of nothing, it was just pure feeling. I have a suspicion it came from stuff bottled up inside me, that I didn't know how to express or articulate. I get angry because, 'Why can't I say what I really mean?' Then Samba Pa To comes out of me. And everybody understands it."



This was Santana's first entry in the UK singles chart, even though neither Santana nor their label deemed it single material when Abraxas was first released. However in 1974 it finally became available as a 45, as part of the UK promotion for a Santana greatest hits compilation.



Puerto Rican singer-guitarist Jose Feliciano covered this song with added lyrics in 1982.



This was one of the tunes included in English author Nick Hornby's 31 Songs, a collection of essays about various songs that carried particular emotional resonance for him.

Lego originated in the workshop of Ole Kirk Christiansen, a carpenter from the small town of Billund, Denmark. In 1932 he started making wooden toys to make a living after having lost his job during the depression and he named his new company Lego from the Danish words LEg GOdt ("play well"). Later, it was discovered that in Latin, the term "Lego" means "I put together" or "I assemble." Christiansen began making simple plastic toys as well as wooden ones after the Second World War and in 1949 began manufacturing the now famous interlocking Lego bricks. The Airborne Toxic Event is an American indie rock band from Los Feliz, Los Angeles, California. It consists of Mikel Jollett (vocals, guitar, keyboards), Steven Chen (guitar, keyboards), Noah Harmon (electric bass, upright bass, backing vocals), Daren Taylor (drums) and Anna Bulbrook (viola, keyboards, tambourine, backing vocals). The band released its debut self-titled album in 2008 and released its follow-up album, All at Once, on April 26, 2011.



Named after a section of the book White Noise, by Don DeLillo, the group is known for its blend of rock music and orchestral arrangements, having performed frequently with the Calder Quartet, a string quartet based in Los Angeles. The group has also played concerts with the Louisville Orchestra and the Colorado Symphony Orchestra.
