It is one of the oldest card games originated in Germany. Some people claim that the game was created in a Westfal city of Paderborn in 1652 by the frequent visitors to the pub at 66 Eckkamp Street and that is why the number 66 is included in the rules and the name of the game. The game reached Poland at the end of 17th century in the French form called mariash; its variants to be known as gaigel or shnaps.
