BASICS

Basically speaking, the game of roulette is played by spinning a small ball on a round wheel with thirty-eight (or thirty-seven) numbered slots. There is one difference between the American table and the French one - the American one has a double zero. When the wheel stops, the ball comes to rest in one of these slots. Which one? Well, that is the question! It is a matter of luck to guess what number will be the one. Players bet on selected number(s) by placing chips representing specified amount of money on the table… and prey to Lady Luck. There are many kinds of bets, simple ones and more complex ones. All of them are described in BETS & PAYOUTS section. Basically speaking, by betting we mean putting one or more chips on selected areas of the table. As you probably noticed, there are many areas on the table - but there are even more ways of putting chips! Payoff from winnings depends on the amount of money that was put in a bet (if there is any payoff, of course), and on the kind of bet. The wheels in both games are also quite different as the locations of the numbers around the wheel differ. Each roulette game begins when the dealer spins the wheel in one direction and then rolls a small ball along the inner edge of the wheel in the opposite direction. The ball eventually falls into one of the numbered slots. That number is declared the winner for that particular game.
