CONVENTIONS
Bridge conventions are specified ways of bidding and Whisting, which are mostly used to inform a partner about received cards. It is not necessary to use one of them (when players use no convention, it is a natural system), but it helps players to communicate.
There is one important rule of using a convention. Before starting bidding it is necessary to count all points in hand. They are counted as follows:
Each Ace: 4pts.
Each King: 3pts.
Each Queen: 2pts.
Each Jack: 1pts.
Also, when bidding a suit (all except NT) a player can also count points for:
Doubleton, when a player has only two cards in the specified suit: 1 pt.
Singleton, when a player has only one card in the specified suit: 2 pts.
Void, when player does not have any cards in the selected suit: 3 pts.
