GAME MODES

In the game there are some special periods of time when the rules change, which are called modes. These modes are switched on in the normal game play after hitting some targets. There are twelve different modes in Demon. These modes can be roughly divided into four groups - Spirit Game Modes, Wolf Game Modes, Video Game Modes and other game modes.

To start the mode from the first group you have to lock the ball in the Spirit Trap and then shoot the right ramp. Having locked the ball, a spirit mode is chosen randomly from the spirit modes that have not been played yet. To change the selected mode you must shoot any ramp other than the right one. This type of mode can be also enabled as a special random award (see Feature: The Clock Tower - Random Award). There are four modes altogether: Zombie Zone, Witchcraft, Twice-Pain and Exterminate Vampires. If the white lamp at the entrance flashes, it means that this mode is activated. If it is switched on, the mode has been played before (when all Spirit Modes and Wolf Modes are played, Demon Mode is activated).

The modes in the second group are called Wolf Modes. To enable these modes you have to shoot any ramp other than the right one. There are three Wolf Modes available in the table: Escape, Grave Digger and Bat Butcher. To enable them shoot the left ramp, center the left ramp or center the right ramp respectively. When a mode is activated, shoot the Wolf lock to start it. The currently activated wolf mode is displayed on the lamps in the center part of the table. If the lamp is switched on, it means that this mode has been played before.

In the next group there are video modes. Strictly speaking, they are not pinball games. A video mode is a small game played on the LED display. During the video mode all functionality of the pinball table is deactivated. Players usually use flipper and launch key to play video mode. In Demon table there are two video modes: Werewolf and No Pain No Brain. These modes are activated when all four moon targets are hit. Video modes can also be enabled as a special random award (see Feature: The Clock Tower - Random Award). To start No Pain No Brain video mode lock the ball into Spirit lock, to start Werewolf - lock into Wolf lock.

In the last group there are modes that do not fit the other groups. There are two such modes: Clock Tower 3-Ball Multiball Mode and Demon Mode. The first one is a 3-Ball multiball mode which is started when you have been able to lock the ball three times in the tower lock. The second one is enabled when you play all spirit and wolf modes (all spirit and wolf modes are switched on). To start this mode lock the ball in either spirit or wolf lock.

LIST OF MODES

Clock Tower 3-ball Multiball Mode:

When the bell rings three times, the night falls. The time for monsters, time for ghosts. If you want to play with them, it is your time. It is not easy, but the reward might be worth it...

Aim the ball at the tower lock. If you shoot it three times and light three clock lamps, the special Clock Tower 3-Ball Multiball Mode starts. At the beginning of the game you have to shoot any of the flashing ramps. If you do it, you can lock the ball either in tower or spirit or wolf lock. The more balls you are able to lock, the larger Jackpot you will receive, so try to keep as many balls in the game as is possible. When all the balls on the table are locked, you get the Jackpot multiplied by the number of the balls and the mode restarts again. Nevertheless this time you will have to shoot more ramps than before to activate locks and Jackpot (the number of required ramps and locks is displayed in the LED display). To start this mode lock the ball three times in Tower Trap.

Zombie Zone Mode:

Zombies are nasty creatures. When they bit you, you will be one of them forever. To ward off an attack, take an axe and fight for your liberty.

To kill a zombie, shoot at any ramp showing a flashing yellow lamp. You will be awarded 5,000,000 points for every zombie you kill. If you want more points for this slaughter work, shoot the ball into the ball locks and the zombie award is increased by 1,000,000 points. The zombie award is also increased when you shoot targets, kickbacks and bumpers. To start this mode, lock the ball in Spirit Lock. If the first lamp at the right ramp entrance is flashing then, shoot the ball at the right ramp, otherwise shoot other ramps to change flashing lamp.

Witchcraft Mode:

And now the Witch appears. She is old, ugly and she can cast dangerous spells to try to delude you. Try and fight it. Her powerful spells can even change the movements of the ball.

In this mode a strong magnet below the evil light is active and this magnet can change the direction of the ball. For your fight with this she-devil you are awarded by special jackpots. You collect them on the ramps (2,000,000 points) and ball-locks (5,000,000 points). Always during this mode a ball saver is active so even if you lose the ball it is propelled back on the table. Unfortunately if you lose the ball, you also lose the battle with the witch and the mode is finished. To start this mode, lock the ball in Spirit Lock. If the second lamp at the right ramp entrance is flashing, shoot the ball at the right ramp, otherwise shoot other ramps to change flashing lamp.

Twice Pain Mode:

This is nasty work, but someone has to do it. We must inform you that they are really bad guys, so do not be sorry for them.

This is a 2-ball multiball mode. You have the limited time to try to lock the balls into the Tower and Wolf Ball-Traps. For each locking you collect 15,000,000 points. You can also get a double bonus award if you shoot the Spirit Ball-Trap. You will be awarded 1,000,000 points for shooting any ramps. To start this mode: lock ball in Spirit Lock. If the third lamp at the right ramp entrance is flashing, then shoot the ball at the right ramp, otherwise shoot other ramps to change flashing lamp.

Exterminate Vampires Mode:

Vampires look like people, but they are not people. You will recognize them by their black suits, pale smiles and long teeth! They just want to drink your blood. Your mission is quite simple. You must exterminate them. Bear in mind that if you fail, some innocent human beings can lose their precious blood, or even life! Remember when the dusk comes, they wake up and you will become their victim. So, hurry up...

The mode starts when you have found four black coffins. Shoot any ramp which shows a flashing yellow lamp to kill the vampire. You will collect 10,000,000 points for each vampire that you kill, and the fourth and final vampire is worth a massive 30,000,000-point jackpot. To start this mode: lock ball in Spirit Lock. If the fourth lamp at the right ramp entrance is flashing, shoot the ball at the right ramp, otherwise shoot other ramps to change flashing lamp.

Escape Mode:

This is not the time for heroism. There is something here but you do not know what it is. You only know that it is something pretty horrible. Your only chance of survival is to run as fast as you can.

To run faster try to shoot any targets, ramps or ball-locks. The faster you run the more seconds you put between yourself and the unknown danger. If you are able to overtake it by more than 33 seconds you will escape and collect 50,000,000 points. To start this mode: shoot the center right ramp and then Wolf ball-trap. This mode is indicated on the table by the square lamp with word RUN on it.

Grave Digger Mode:

It is time to do some work. Grab a spade and dig for some treasure. At the beginning of this mode you will find yourself at the cemetery and there are four graves in front of you. Where is the treasure? It is only in one of them...

Shoot the ball up any ramps showing a flashing yellow lamp to open a coffin and hopefully find the treasure. There are three things you need to know. Firstly, you can get more points if you find the treasure quickly and secondly, each and every time you open a coffin with no treasure inside, any treasure money you already have will be decreased. Thirdly, you have limited time for exploration. To start this mode: shoot center left ramp and next Wolf ball-trap.

Bat Butcher Mode:

Who likes bats? Hardly anybody. But even if you like bats remember that these bats are different. They are not nice at all. Shoot the flying bat in the sky with your shotgun.

The bat flits around in the score panel and at the same time the yellow lamps at the entrances to the ramps will indicate the bat's current position. If you are lucky enough to shoot a ramp when its lamp is lit, you will shoot down the bat and collect 25,000,000 points. But remember that it is not easy at all. So take your gun and have a good time. To start this mode: shoot left ramp and next Wolf ball-trap.

Werewolf Mode

You are having bad time. You are standing in the center of cemetery - just you, and your gun. And humpy creatures approach. Oh no! These are horrible werewolves. Stand as long as you can - and remember your ammo is limited - so aim carefully.

To start this mode: hit all four Moon targets to enable video mode, then shoot Wolf ball-trap.

No Pain No Brain Mode

This is a simple and very popular game (at graveyards). In five skulls there is only one brain. The skulls are rotated and exchanged. Try to keep track of where the brain is going, and guess in which skull the brain will appear next.

Use the flipper keys to select the skull and next press the launch button. If you fail, the mode is ended. If you choose correctly you collect point award and you can try to do it once again. But remember that the skulls move more quickly this time. To start this mode: hit all four Moon targets to activate the video mode, then shoot Wolf ball-trap.

Final Mode:

Use the experience you have gained in all the other modes to fight this final battle. Your enemy is great and powerful. The Demon - monster and ruler of the Dark Side of the world. Fight this evil creature with four silver balls.

This mode is enabled when all spirit and demon modes are completed and when you are ready to fight. This is a four-ball multiball mode. Try to reach the demon and shoot the balls up the ramps and into the ball-trap as many times as you can. Each time you do it, you will get the Jackpot. The more balls you have in the game, the bigger the Jackpot value is. If you have two balls in it, you get 7,000,000 points; if you have three balls, you get 8,500,000 points; if you have four balls, you get 10,000,000 points. Every fifth Jackpot you will get a special award - if you have fewer than four balls, another one is shot into the game (up to maximum four balls at any time). Otherwise you collect a massive 35,000,000 point award. To start this mode you have to play all spirit and wolf modes before (Zombie Zone, Witchcraft, Twice-Pain, Exterminate Vampires, Escape, Grave Digger and Bat Butcher). Next you have to lock ball the in either Spirit or Wolf ball-trap.
