HALMA is a game in which each player in turn moves the pieces on 256 checkered squares of the board from his or her corner to the corner opposite.

Like in checkers the strategy of placing the one’s own pieces as well as blocking the opponent’s pieces.

The game was invented in 1883 by a thirty-year-old American physician George Howard Monks.
