      I was watching something on tv that stirred a distant memory in my mind.   It was about a girl that was trying to get her half sisters to recognized her as part of the family.    It made my mind drift back to a story I was told I had a half sister.   I was told she was older then my oldest full sister, but I never met her.   When I was a child i used to wonder what it would be like to meet her.   I wondered if she would look like any of us.  I was told some time later that the mother had changed her story and said my dad was not the father, which left more questions then answers.   Back in those days DNA tests were not as common as they are today.   I heard about 20 years ago she had died of cancer.   Now I will never know if I had a lost sister or maybe some nieces or nephews I never met, but knowing my dad there may be others out there.   My dad liked the girls and they liked him when he was young.   My dad had a way with girls that lasted into his later years.   The ironic thing is this lost sister died of cancer and just this year I lost my oldest brother to cancer.   We have cancer on both sides of my family so it is possible that if she was my sister she got it from dads side.    With Christmas coming up so soon I think of family, both the family I still have and the family we lost over the years.
